Life Begins when you own a Bunch of Cats
For my first ever post, I am going to share with you my journey on becoming a full-time furmom. This has been one of my passions, taking good care of cats. This passion turned into a hobby and now, I have 10 cats. How did this happen? Keep on reading!
First is a throwback, back when I was in elementary, I saw an orange kitten in the street. It is begging for me for food. It is very skinny with all the dirt on it. My young heart was touched, I pick up the kitten, bring it to the house the feed it. It ate all the food I gave and then fell asleep on my lap. It was a very fond memory to date. I felt like I did a wonderful job- I save a life. The kitten who I named "Orange" live on for three (3) years. It was an eye-opening experience. I become responsible for a young age. My mother only accepted Orange when I said I will make sure its poop will be taken cared of by me.
Fast forward...
After two decades, I live alone in a house with 10 cats, yes you read it right. What is just an eye-opener experience gave me an endless possibilities. I am still cleaning poop, but now with a cat sand. And it is multiplied by 10. If back then, I only have one cat to play with now I have 10. It was a transition for me. Sometimes I ask, how did it come to happen ? Did I lose sight? Did I lose my count? The thing is I accepted it not with 100% acceptance but with a window of possibility.
This is the story.
I picked up a street kitten when I was still working two years ago, I just moved from my house that time, I have a dog named Mallows. I was a little lonely back then because my cat who I brought with me to move did not come home for a couple days. I look for Yen (its name) around the subdivision and back to the place where I used to live if its there. I cannot found yen. It is for that reason I adopted SungKyung. My new orange tabby. After a year with only Sung Kyung with me, I decided I want an additional cat. Sung kyung is lonely. I purchase Chief (persian-siamese) and Chuck (siamese) from a breeder. They were bony with skin disease. I immediately brought them to the vet for check-up and proper vaccinations. Now I have three (3) cats. I was already happy. They were great addition to my cat family. It did not occur to me that I will have more. Back in the night of June 2018, I was in a barbecue pop-up in the neighborhood when there's a calico kitten being kicked by people there because it keeps on meowing. I look at it, I know why its meowing, it needs food. I think that the kitten was very hungry. I thought for a moment, shall I adopt this kitten? Can I still accommodate it in my budget? I prayed and eventually decided to adopt it. I named it "Liit" or small. So your wondering why I ended up with 10 cats? Maybe you already have an idea. To cut the story short, Liit mate with Sung kyung and ended up with 6 babies. Now they are 10. Sigh.
The turning point...
Why did I sigh? Because back in February 28, 2019 I decided to end my journey in working a full-time job. You may asked why? How will you feed your cats? What would be your source of income?
I will answer that in a series of blog post. But back on my story, I have 10 cats, I have no day job. Which means, I had more time with my cats. It also means I still need to wake up early to feed them.
Now enters, life begins when you own a bunch of cats.
You don't need to have an alarm clock, you have a better and 10 times more potent alarm clocks which are the simultaneous meowing or crying for food when you don't feed them at the right time.
You have to work harder, cat food is expensive. They also need vet attention, vitamins plus cat treat. It feels like having 10 babies without child support.
You have instant babies to cuddle everyday, they will lick you, play with you, sleep with you to the point that you cannot sleep on your bed anymore because they will occupy half the space you should be laying. And most of all, they have feelings too, they know when there #hooman is upset, and they will give you there power hugs plus the purring that calms.
Those are just the few things that adds color to your life when you have cats, a bunch of them in your house. In addition, you don't need to buy a cat from a cat breeder too. Yes I did bought Chief and Chuck. I did not feel sorry for doing so but it is better to #adoptdontshop. There are so many abandoned cats and kittens each day that needs love and care. Let's have a heart for them.
